About Me
I hail from the land of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where I learned from an early age how to love cheap beer and respect my elders.
I’ve been writing since the time I could first curl my fingers around a pencil, and I’ve been practicing the art of being cheap since a little while after that.
I have a fairly useless degree in creative writing and journalism from Central Michigan University (home of the Flying ‘Cs!’). I’ve lived in London, Philadelphia and Chicago, and pretty much loved them all. I was pretty broke in them all, too.
I recently packed up my belongings, drove across the country in a U-Haul, and made a new home for myself in a great neighborhood just east of Hollywood, California. Why? It’s the only place in the world where I can go into a bar, order a $4 draft beer, and then have an hour-long conversation about who just got cast in the latest Avengers movie without looking weird.
Where else would I be?
I’m so happy to see you have a blog rockin’ again. I love reading your insights and observations about the world, and now LA. I like your blog about searching for a bar with a good selection of beers, we did know a few good ones in Chicago. The place I work at now serves Goose Island, but employees aren’t allowed to drink there, how unfair is that?!
